Lavanya K is currently studying BPT 1st year at the MGR Educational and Research Institute, Chennai. She completed her schooling at Chennai Girls Higher Secondary School, MH Road, Perambur, scoring 63% in Class 10 and 81% in Class 12.

Lavanya’s father was an alcoholic and struggled to hold on to regular employment. His health began to deteriorate due to chronic alcohol consumption, and he passed away in 2016. Lavanya has two older siblings—a brother, Mithun, and a sister, Dharshini. Her brother failed his Class 10 board exams and joined an ITI course but discontinued midway. He eventually fell into bad company, started consuming alcohol, and later became addicted. In a recent and deeply traumatic incident, Mithun had a violent quarrel with their mother and caused a serious forehead injury using the vegetable cutter. An FIR was lodged against him, and he is currently in judicial custody. Her elder sister Dharshini eloped while she was in college and has since been separated from the family.

Her mother Rajeshwari is now the sole breadwinner; she works as a tailor doing her best to support Lavanya’s education and sustain the household.

Lavanya is a bright and determined young girl. She has excelled in extracurricular activities, particularly sports. She has represented her school at the district level in Kho-Kho, Silambam and athletics. Her childhood dream was to become a doctor, a goal shaped by both her personal experiences and her passion for healthcare. Although financial constraints and family challenges prevented her from pursuing an MBBS degree, she has now joined BPT course and hopes to become a qualified physiotherapist and serve others.

With the right support, she is determined to rise above her circumstances and build a meaningful career in the healthcare field.
