Reshma Mercy is studying Btech AI & DS 2nd year at LICET, Chennai.
Reshma Mercy completed her 10th standard at Mar Ivanios CBSE School, Kuzhithurai, with a score of 91% and secured the 2nd position in her school. She later completed her 12th standard at Mar Gregorios Higher Secondary School, Kirathoor, scoring 94% and emerged as the school topper.
Her father, G.K. Rejeesh, passed away during the COVID pandemic when Reshma was 15 years old and studying in the 10th std. He was admitted in Chennai Stanley Hospital for about a month under the care of their family doctor. After recovering, he returned to Kerala and initially followed a strict diet. However, believing he was fully cured, he discontinued the diet and soon fell ill again. He was brought back to Chennai, but unfortunately, he passed away within 10 days of readmission.
After completing her 10th std, Reshma joined 11th but struggled to focus on her studies due to the trauma of losing her father. She even had arrears in some subjects. Concerned for her well-being, her maternal uncle took her to his home and offered emotional support. Her class teachers also provided extra guidance and encouragement, helping her gradually regain confidence. With sustained effort, she worked hard and became the school topper in her 12th standard, for which she was awarded a shield by her school.
Her mother, Suma, works as a homecare nurse and the family also receives some rental income from the first floor of their house, which helps support the household and cover her younger brother’s educational expenses.
Reshma has a strong interest in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Data Science (DS), especially in their real-world applications. This passion led her to pursue a course in this field. Her ambition is to become a leading data analyst at a top software company.
