Chandiyaa K is studying BDS 3rd year at TN Govt. Dental College & Hospital, Chennai.

She completed her 10th std at St. Joseph of Cluny Mat HSS, Neyveli, with a score of 92%, and her 12th std at Jayapriya Vidyalaya CBSE, Virudhachalam, with a score of 81.33%. Her father, Kumar, suffered from jaundice, and unfortunately, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, he could not receive proper treatment and passed away from liver failure in 2021
Her mother, Guna, suffers from mild schizophrenia and easily gets angry and depressed. Her condition worsened after her husband’s death, and she is currently unable to work and is undergoing treatment. Her younger sister, Keerthana, is pursuing her second year of B.E. ECE in a private college. She has used the first graduate status to get fee reduction. Their relatives are supporting them with medical expenses and educational fees.
Chandiyaa cleared the NEET exam through self-study as she did not have anyone to support her for coaching. She took a gap of two years to prepare and successfully cleared it on her second year. Until she received support from STF, she depended on her relatives for her fees, which were sometimes provided on request and on time, but many times were delayed and had to be paid with penalties.
She is talented in glass painting and short film making. Her favorite subject is Biology, and her ambition is to pursue a Master’s in Dental Surgery (MDS). This scholarship has relieved her of financial burdens, and she now feels she can focus more on her studies.
