Banusurya M completed her 10th std at Nadar Hr Sec School, Kovilpatti, scoring 90%, and her 12th std at Sri Sarada MHSS, Ariyakulam, scoring 90%. Her native is Thoothukudi district. Her father, Mayandi S, works as an automotive painter, and her mother, Marithai, is a homemaker. She has two siblings: her sister is pursuing a B.Sc. in Agriculture, and her brother is studying in school.
When she was om 5th std she participated in the State-level Thirukkural competition and classical dance. After moving to Sri Sarada MHSS, she could not take part in extracurricular activities as such events were not conducted there.
Her father is the sole earning member of the family with an unstable income, it became difficult for him to support her education along with that of her siblings. This also made her realize the importance of education and financial stability. With the support of STF she feels relieved and is able to focus more on her studies. Her ambition is to get into a government job.
