Manikandan lost his father during his twelfth standard board exams. His mother works as a maid, earning Rs.3000 and his sister completed her  engineering (IT). He studied in PCKG Govt HSS Kodambakkam  and scored  92.6% in his twelfth standard. He plays badminton and joined the NSS and has received prizes in essay writing and elocution contests. Soon after his exams, he had to take up a job at a courier company earning Rs.5000 to help ease the financial burden on his family.Manikandan has completed his BE-  Civil Engineering from Meenakshi Sundararajan College, Kodambakkam and joined KCP Technologies Ltd.
