Both her parents are illiterate. Her father works as a mason and earns a minimal income and supports the family. Her mother, Murugammal, is a housewife. She has four siblings; her three elder sisters are married, and her brother is currently studying engineering.
She secured her MBBS seat through the Persons with Disabilities (PwD) quota. Kiruthika describes herself as a quiet and reserved person who feels nervous while speaking with others. Coming from a Tamil-medium school she sometimes feels a lack of confidence, but she is determined to overcome these challenges.
