Ponmanikandan S is studying 2nd year MBBS at Government Stanley Medical College, Chennai.

Ponmanikandan S completed his schooling at Swamy Vivekanandar MHSS, Kanchamalayur, Salem, securing 97.6% in Class 10 and 97% in Class 12. He is  from Sankari in Salem district.
His father, Selvaraj K, is a weaver and is the sole breadwinner of the family. He is an illiterate. His mother, has studied up to the 9th std, and is a homemaker. His elder sister, Pavithra, has studied up to the 12th std and is now married, living with her in-laws, with  two sons.
Ponmanikandan cleared NEET on his second attempt, scoring a rank of 411 with a score of 569 out of 720. His favourite subject is Biology, and he aspires to become a leading paediatric doctor.
