Janarthanam completed his studies at Chemmal K Ganapathy Government Higher Secondary School scoring 1053 out of 1200 in Class 12. His father works as an astrologer and his mother works as a cook. He has a sister who has completed Class 12 but is unable to go further in studies or work because of ill health. Janarthanam presently is working for Wipro-GE Health Care after completing his engineering in ECE from Rajalakshmi Engineering College.
