Sharmila is also visually handicapped. She obtained 84.5% in the 12th standard, 90% in Economics and 91% in Geography. Her father is a coolie, and her mother is blind. She has won races at the state level for athletics. She has completed her B Com from Ethiraj College  & her B Ed  from SRM college in 2014.
