Shriya D is studying B.Com CS 1st year at Ethiraj College for Women, Chennai.  She completed her 10th at SDA Mat HSS, Vepery scoring 376 (75.2%) and her 12th at Chennai Girls HSS, Saidapet scoring 565 ( 94%)  a remarkable turnaround for the student of a Greater Chennai Corporation School.

Shriya father Dharmaraja is  a government employee and addicted to alcohol.  In 2022, Shriya D was forced to drop out after Class 10 due to unpaid private school fees of Rs. 80,000. Her father, refused to pay the dues so she and her younger brother faced a year-long break from education. Her mother, Sreedevi, moved out with her children to a single rented room and began working at spectacle company, earning ₹13,000. During the break Shriya was washing and filling soda bottles for ₹300 per day and ₹150 for night shifts. After clearing the dues at school from their savings she resumed studies at Saidapet Corporation School and secured 565/600 in Class 12, ranking second in her school. She will also be preparing for UPSC exam.  Her ambition is to get placement in government sector.
